I love product testing because I feel like I’m part of making history. With the development of every version of iPad, or the first time Apple released its iPhone to the world, having been included in the quality control of such products (even if it were just a tiny part in the scheme of things) is still pretty cool. You will not be compensated for all your feedback.Because you’ll be testing software and not physical products, you may need to have access to a Mac, iPhone, AppleTV, or other Apple products whose software requires testing. You will not receive a physical product when you join either program. The hardware testing remains restricted to their carefully chosen employees who work at Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California.īefore you join, you must understand 3 things: When it comes to Apple’s product testing programs, you have two options:īoth programs focus on the software of Apple products. Process to release components and "items" into the vaults is very complex and time-consuming.Makes it very difficult for the individual designer to quickly make changes to schematic symbols and footprints for components, without going through vault release process.Makes it easy to share design data with vendors and verify that they're looking at the correct version of design data.Allows for concept of "items" and design reuse of validated blocks larger than the component level.Easy way to create validated, trusted, versioned components.Very good design release and versioning process. Here are the pro's and con's as I see them: I'm going through the process of starting a bunch of new design work in Altium at the moment at my company, and am trying to decide whether it's worth going through the effort of setting up the Altium Vault infrastructure, vs. Do any of you out there have any thoughts and experience on the issue? Are there any other small companies or design teams (5-10 engineers working with Altium across design, manufacturing, procurement, etc.) who have found Vaults worth implementing? In my brief research, it seems like it would take a full-time Altium librarian to keep the wheels greased on a vault and keep the release process of components and designs flowing smoothly.
